So, you want to become an affiliate?

You're obviously interested in some affiliate action, that's why you clicked to this page.  An affiliate income can be quite a lucrative business.  You can spend lots of time working at it or not.  Your results of course will depend on your efforts.

Becoming an affiliate is a pretty simple process.  However, it's a little bit of a catch 22 in the same breath.  Before you sign up for new affiliate accounts, it would be a good thing to already have your site set up and at least functional.  The reason that I'm referring to it as a catch 22 is because there are some of the affiliates that do review your site prior to allowing your account to become active.  Now, not all of the affiliates require that - and this is good news for you!  It's not easy to tell which of the affiliates require a review or not.  Only some of the affiliate groups will notate it on their site.  To help you out, I've tried to make notations below of those affiliates that do have a sub-affiliate or tier program.

When signing up your new affiliate accounts, make sure that you use a standard email address that you plan on keeping for life.  This way, even if you forget your log in details, you will know which email address you used making it a little easier to retrieve your log in details.  Also, most of the affiliates allow you to choose a username.  If you can, try to keep it standard throughout your applications for ease when logging in.  After all, once you get started signing up for these new accounts, you will find that there are tons!  The ones that you see listed below are not even a fraction of all the affiliate accounts that you can actually sign up for!

Once you have successfully signed up for your new affiliate accounts, you can begin to add banners and links to your site.  Using banners is nice and colorful, but text links are also good to use for SEO purposes.  If you end up using a lot of banners, your site may end up looking more like a banner farm vs. a site with meaningful quality.  I like to use banners, but have found that you really don't need to use them all over your pages.  Strategically placing banners in prominent places on your pages will still be effective.  Further, you can use rotation scripts to give equal coverage to banners and texts.

One more thing to mention is about getting paid.  These days, it's getting a bit tough to get paid.  However, there are several vehicles that you can use to get your monthly earnings!  When you sign up for your affiliate accounts, try to centralize your payments as well.  Remember that if you select wire transfers, there are fees; if you select cheque, there is a wait time; etc... You can still use several other funding methods so I wish you the best of luck!
